Pgod Talks About Joining Dignitas and the Recent Changes to Fortnite

Get to know pro player Pgod in this interview as he talks about his time on Dignitas and his thoughts on recent Fortnite changes.

Piero Pgod Ramirez is a popular Latin American Fortnite pro and streamer. Joining Dignitas back in May, he’s become one of the most promising players in esports. We sat down with him to talk about his experience joining the team and the recent changes to Fortnite.

It's been about six months since you’ve joined the team. How has your time in Dignitas been so far?

Pgod: My time has been great! I’ve always wanted to travel, and they made that possible for me. They’ve given me products from HyperX and other sponsors from the team. Everytime I go to California to the facility, it’s always a good time. The staff is really nice. They always treat me well and not just that but my teammates in the organization treat me good. Not just the Fortnite players, but content creators as well, like HugS and Amber. I mean they all treat me nice, and we all get along pretty well, and that makes me happy.

Can you please share your experience with joining Dignitas and the creation of the new Fortnite team?

Pgod: My experience has been really good. I’m glad that I joined with Mero and Duke. I mean Mero has been my friend before that. We don’t talk every day, but we get along really well and Duke is just a really nice person. It’s really nice to see us three join and show some really good results.

How were you approached with the offer to join?

Pgod: There was a Streamer Bowl event in February this year and James, a manager in the team, told me that he was showing some interest in signing me before I won the Streamer Bowl. He showed even more interest after I won the event and then things happened, and I’m so glad they happened because everything went so well.

What do you think you bring to Dignitas that sets you apart from current or future members?

Pgod: I think I can bring in not just the gameplay but the content as well and a different audience, which is the Latin American audience. I think it’s really good to bring in diversity to the team, and it is something that we have not just in the team as players or content creators, but we have that in our staff and I’ve seen it in person. That's what I like a lot about Dignitas. There’s a lot of diversity and so much culture in this team which makes me happy, and I think everyone brings in something special.

What have been some of your favorite moments since joining Dignitas?

Pgod: One of my favorite moments is definitely the Rocket League Major where our team was playing. I was there with Max and Elise and I had a fun time with the two of them. I also had a great time with the staff!

Let’s move on to your gameplay. How have these past games been for you?

Pgod: My games have been good. After this Raleigh event, I’m going to start grinding again. Hopefully we get some Majors or some Tournaments coming up for this new year.

What are your expectations for yourself these upcoming months?

Pgod: I would say to expect more for the new year because I don’t think there will be much in December because of the holidays. So for the new year, I do expect a lot from myself. Hopefully I perform much better than this year and exceed my expectations.

How are you feeling about the new changes to Fortnite with Season 4? Do you think Chrome is a good change of gameplay?

Pgod: I don’t think it is. It's something that is too much of a drastic change. I think the game has to be a little more balanced and I think the whole community is asking for that. It doesn’t have to be the guns, just a more balanced meta. I think a lot of pro players would be really happy with that.

Are there any guns you aren’t liking?

Pgod: Yeah, like the Rapid Fire SMGs are a little too much. There’s an AR that has lasers that I think is a little broken as well. The shotguns are fine, but as far as the SMGs and ARs, I think they should be changed into a more balanced state.

Recently there has been an increase in LAN events for Fortnite especially with the Invitationals. What are your thoughts on LAN events becoming more and more frequent?

Pgod: It’s what makes this game grow more. It helps everyone out, it’s exciting, it’s something to look forward to, it motivates the whole community. LAN events are really important for a game, especially with competitive esports. They are also good for content creators and competitive players to get along. It’s always a good time to see all these people you meet online in person, and nothing changes. You still have a good time. I mean, in a funny way there's this beef between us pros online, but in-person, that all changes and everyone gets along. It’s also good for the viewership and it helps people’s careers on Twitch in my opinion.

Do you have any personal experiences with LAN events?

Pgod: Yeah, I always have a good time with my friends that I’ve known for a long time online! It’s memories that I really hold that are really valuable to me.

What words would you like to leave for any fans?

Pgod: Thank you for always supporting me. You’re the reason I’m here. All the work I’ve put into would never have been possible without them, so I am always going to be thankful for them.

Thanks so much for taking the time to talk, where can people find you?

Pgod: They can find me on Twitch and YouTube as @pgod. On Twitter and Instagram it’s @pgodtv and on TikTok it’s @realpgod.
