Preventing a Defuse With Wallbanging
This guide will cover some extraordinary wallbangs to prevent a defuse.
This guide will cover some extraordinary wallbangs to prevent a defuse.
Wallbangs have played a big role in CS 1.6 due to its various wallbang spots. It is likely to catch an enemy off guard and may provide you the with the upper hand. The fact is that over the years Valve nerfed wallbanging as it was seen to be too overpowered. In some situations you were able to completely dominate enemies with wallbangs. For example on de_nuke you were able to shoot from Bombsite B to Bombsite A to prevent CT’s from defusing the bombs, or T’s from planting. The classic wallbang is without doubt through Double Doors on de_dust2. Back in the days the doors were made out of wood, which not only made the AWP a powerful weapon to shoot through the door. It also made it easy to nail down an enemy with the AK47. All wooden doors got replaced by metal doors in CSGO. Nevertheless it is still powerful to hit someone with an AWP through the doors. But on the other hand a wallbang might save you from a CT defusing the bomb.

One of the best examples to demonstrate the power of wallbangs is this video of Cloud9 player Jordan ’’n0thing’’ Gilbert. Playing for Evil Geniuses at that time he managed to get several wallbangs through the walls on Nuke Bombsite A from Outside. Although the walls are not wallbangable anymore it should show how powerful wallbangs are.
Mirage
Bombsite B
A CT will most likely defuse like this
First I would like to give credits to the youtuber TrilluXe who posted a video about this wallbang two months ago. Bombsite B on Mirage provides a really good opportunity to deny the defuse without risking death. You need to be careful, because if there are more than one player still left you have to watch your back. First plant the bomb on the right side of the Ninjabox on Mirage Bombsite B. Plant it as close to short as you can. Now go into Aps and then into the corner in Kitchen shown in the picture (Aps Kitchen not Market/Kitchen). Now aim at the second line from the bottom on the wood. Aim just a bit to the left of the right side. I would highly recommend using a rifle, due to the fact that you can just hold down the mouse button and spray. If you don’t kill him after a few shots just swipe a bit to the left.
Train
Bombsite A
Afterplant situations can be quite tricky on Train. Often players will try to take shelter in Popdog and wait for someone to defuse so they can pop out and kill them. Sometimes it works but a lot of players will see that it is planted for Popdog, pre-aim and maybe fake a defuse. If you don’t want to take the risk you might as well try the wallbang shown in the picture. It is possible to do it both with a rifle and an AWP. To set up the wallbang plant the bomb for Popdog on the bombtrain.
I would recommend planting it in the middle as it is easier to find the right spot if you need to aim a bit left or right depending on where the enemy is standing to defuse. After you planted go up Popdog and search for the tile with the crack in it. It is in front of the wooden window. Then aim down and search for the little dot on the tile one up and left from the crack tile (marked in the picture). Now aim at the left side of the wooden window and align the vertical line of your crosshair with the black dot on the right (marked with a 1) and the horizontal line under the black dot on the left (marked with a 2). If you shoot now you’ll hit an enemy if he is standing so just feel free to aim a tiny bit lower. Be aware if that you aim too low you will hit a wall and the shot won’t land on the bombsite. You can also aim a bit left and right so you have a higher chance of finding the enemy. If you use a rifle you will have to try the right spot without lines so it is harder but the spray is rewarding as you can swipe from left to right and up and down.
Nuke
Bombsite A
The Bullet will hit someone if he is defusing close to the bomb
For the Bombsite A wallbang plant the bomb between the pillars on the right cross on the side not facing main. If the bomb is planted run to Radio/Trophy Room and walk against the chair on the far right. Be careful and check if someone is rotating to A from ramp! Now aim (unscoped) at the height of the lightswitch. Now you can just scope in and take a shot. If the enemy is crouching you'll just need to aim a bit lower.
Bombsite B
Nuke is a special map since Bombsite B is right under Bombsite A. For the first wallbang you need to plant the bomb on Bombsite B on the pillar. After that you sneak up to Bombsite A and search the box which is used for jumping on hut. Position yourself in front of the symbol on the box and stand in the middle of the two parallel lines. Now just look on the ground and shoot. Give it a few shots as you have a pretty big circle to play with.
Conclusion
Although it is not as game changing as in CS 1.6 wallbangs can prevent a risky situation in an afterplant situation but are also risky as you might miss the shots and not hit the enemy. Another big plus is that the enemies have a hard time trying to shoot you through the wall as they only roughly know where to aim at. And if you have no chance to go in you might as well just try to wallbang from safe distance, as you can just save your weapon if you fail.
Additional Thoughts
On some Bombsites there are multiple spots to wallbang through, so in conclusion you could try a bit of a risky strategy and next time your teams has three AWPs you could set up a crossfire of wallbangs while the other two plant the bomb. On the other hand you might try these wallbangs to prevent the T’s from planting. There's a lot of room for ideas of how to use the wallbangs and still a lot to discover.
