Razer FeroX - Tiny But Mighty!

Speakers is the one market that Razer has not touched at all... Until now and more specifically 2.0 portable speakers

First of all lets just get out the specifications for the technically sounded people:

Frequency Response: 150Hz-20KHz

Drivers: 30mm neodymium magnets

Up to 12 hours playback time

LED battery status indicator

Battery voltage/capacity: 470mAh

3.5mm audio jack & USB

Loudspeaker Output: 2 x 3W

Carrying case included

Approximate size: 70 mm (length) x 70mm (width) x 53 - 64 mm (height)

Now of course the packaging from Razer is always exquisite, you can tell they put a lot of hard work into the product and trying to catch your eye as always.

The speakers come with the usual Razer stickers and instructions inside but also a beautiful little bag to carry your Ferox speakers around with you and also in the bag comes the main braided Mini-USB / USB / 3.5 mm jack cable all attached together.

There is no volume control on these speakers, its goes on the volume on the device that it is attached to. You can turn on and off the speakers quite easily by just pushing the top of the speaker into the base and you do the same for when you want the speakers on. When the speakers are turned on, it glows the Razer blue right at the base, it looks really cool but that is not the main feature of the lights. The lights actually are meant to tell you the battery usage on the speakers as these speakers DO NOT USE normal batteries. The recharge on the speakers is 3 hours or so and the usage after charge is 12 hours........ Seriously 12 hours on something this small. Its one of the first portable 2.0 speakers I've seen that uses an internal rechargeable pack. When the speakers is connected to a PC or a USB source it will flash blue to tell you it is charging, when the light is fully blue that means its fully charged. When the speakers is running on the battery it goes into a slightly darker blue colour. Now the only time it will change colour is when the battery is running low and you are able to tell easily as the Ferox will go into a flashing red colour.

Right, after examining the Ferox as much as I could, I grabbed my MP3 player and hooked it up to the speakers, I then put on a loud song I could think of, which was Jay-Z & Linkin Park – Points of Authority / 99 Problems then into full blast. Oh man, its amazingly loud but keeps the bass and clarity intact which is hard to do on any speakers around at this price range. With Razer using an 'Expanded Resonance Chamber' and its 'Optimized Digital Amplification' it was truly showing the potential of these speakers at a high and low volume frequency. The best thing I love about these speakers though is the '360° Omni-directional Sound'. I placed these speakers on a small table and walked around slowly while E.S. Posthumus – Nara was playing. The sound in 360 is crazy, there is nothing missing what so ever, you hear everything clear, no matter where you are in a room.

So what do I think about these speakers...... the only bad thing that comes to mind is the size of the cable, its between 50 to 100 centimetres long but other than that.... For portable speakers that I can carry around in my bag easily to events and other places to use. For portable speakers that doesn't need any batteries to put inside the speakers and also can charge from a USB source and also stylish and easy to use and for portable speakers in the £40-£50 range..... THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!
