After spending some times with the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Fury headset, I've found the answer to all of my questions.
In the world of entry level gaming headsets, it can be hard to find one that's right for you. For the price I'm paying, is the audio quality good enough for me? Will it be comfortable enough to wear during long gaming sessions? These are just a few questions that I've asked myself when searching for a headset on a budget. After spending some times with the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Fury headset, I've found the answer to all of my questions.
With a price tag of $49.99, the Tactic3D Fury won't break the bank when looking for an entry level headset solution. What surprised me with the headset was the lack of compromise that came with that price tag. Usually you find companies will cut down on material quality, or put in parts that barely do the job just to get the price down. The Fury is a solid, well built headset that could honestly be confused for a model twice its price.
Audio quality was top notch in everything I threw at the Fury. Everything from music, to team speak, to hearing which direction that last shot came from, the Fury performed very well in providing a high quality audio experience. A good part of that is due to Sound Blaster putting a 40mm driver into the Fury, giving it unparalleled audio quality when compared to other headsets in this price range. This was a great feature to go along with the Fury's Dual Mode audio feature, which allowed me to disconnect the headset from USB and use its 3.5mm audio jack and take the experience with me on anything with a 3.5mm port.
One thing that is very important to me when searching for a headset is microphone quality. If your team can't understand you in a firefight, you may as well be mute. This was never a problem with the Fury, as it has one of the best microphones I've used on a headset. During multiple tests, it was very hard for anyone to tell the difference between the Fury's microphone, and some of my pricey studio microphones. The in-line volume and mute controls are placed closer to the headset, making it so you never have to fumble around looking for the controls. As an added bonus, the microphone is completely detachable from the headset, allowing you to keep it out of the way when not in use or on the go.
Speaking of on the go, the Fury makes a surprisingly great headset for listening on other devices. Unlike other gaming headsets in this price range, the Tactic3D Fury does not compromise on style and features. Sound Blaster designed the Fury to look good in any situation, with stylish red accents along the ear cups and cable. The Fury didn't feel out of place, allowing you to enjoy the experience. The breathable foam ear cups helped with this quite a bit, giving a level of comfort you don't really find on headsets like this.
Overall if you are in the market for a gaming headset that will trump your expectations without burning a hole in your wallet, the Tactic3D Fury is what you're looking for. Featuring superior audio and build quality, this headset changed my perspective on what an entry level headset can be. Passing every single test I gave it, the Fury is the top of its class.
