Terrorist Strategies on Train
This is going to be a look into a couple strategies for winning rounds on the Terrorist side of Train.
This is going to be a look into a couple strategies for winning rounds on the Terrorist side of Train.
This will be a guide for the Terrorist side of Train. I will cover different ways of how to plant the bomb on the A and B Bombsites, as well as various smokes to block off the Counter-Terrorists and good after plant positioning. I will also give my ideas on how to keep control of the Bombsites.
A Bombsite Smoke Wall
- On Bomb Train: The first smoke I will cover is a smoke that will land on the end of the train on the A Bombsite. To throw this smoke, you go to the big yellow trash container and get on top of it. In one of the pictures below, I show that you line up your crosshair by dragging it down till it stops and moving to the back right corner. Then I line up the crosshair with the left-most smokestack as shown below. This smoke is also used in conjunction with 2 other smokes to completely block off half of the A Bombsite. This smoke stops any Counter-Terrorist from peeking over the sides of the Bombtrain. By itself this smoke does not do that much but, with the other two smokes blocking off Ivy and Back Lanes, it is used to cover the bomb planter from Heaven and on top of the Bombtrain.
- Left of Bomb Train: The next smoke blocks off half of A Site completely and is for the left side of the Bombsite train. First go up to above Ladder Room just before the stairs leading down to Boilers and line up your crosshair like the picture below. Then, walk towards the wall and turn around. I line up my crosshair with the line on the ground and then move it up to head level before walking into the wall and turning around. I have pictures below showing the crosshair placement of the smoke, the place where you will stand and of the smoke blooming. Before throwing this smoke you need to shoot out the glass in the windows. Every time I run by, I will shoot out this windows so that the enemy won't know when I am going A or B. You need to hold down both the right and left click mouse buttons at the same time to throw this smoke. This smoke is used with the other smokes to get a bomb plant down on A Bombsite. This smoke by itself blocks off Ivy from Ladder Room, if an AWP player on CT side has been playing Ivy then this gives Terrorists a way to go onto A from Ladder Room.
- Right of Bomb Train: The third smoke is to block off Back Lanes and Z Connector. Heading out of T Spawn before turning into T Connector, go straight to the yellow bin and in between you can stand on the boxes. First I go to the right corner and tap backwards till I fall off the first box onto the second box. I then line up my crosshair with the little knot in the wire and move it up to the top edge of the roof as shown in the picture below. This is a simple left click smoke. This smoke can help Terrorists enter site if there has been an AWPer holding in Z Connector and watching towards T Connector.
- Plant and After Plant: The reasoning behind the positions of throwing the smokes is that it is easy to fall into a default setup afterwards. Usually when throwing these smokes it is best to throw them all at once, so tell your team to get in position and all throw them at 1:25. Before going on to the Bombsite everyone should flash the wall into the Bombsite to blind the Counter-Terrorists. The person from Ladder Room should go for the plant in the smokes, one stays above ladder for the flank from B, two go to T Connector to watch for Counter-Terrorists pushing up Green Train and Blue Train, and your last player could lurk/watch for a flank from Ivy. You can also have two people in T Connector if you want to push up T Hell.
You usually go for the plant from Ladder because, with the smokes, it is the only position you need to clear. The rest of your team can help you with clearing it and the top of the Trains. If you plant at the bottom of the Train in the middle of the smokes, you only have to take half of the bombsite. The idea of this is to make the Counter-Terrorists come to the bomb while you, as the Terrorists can force them to come to you. One of the positions you can cover from is Electric Box, which will give you a direct angle to peek onto the bomb in case a Counter-Terrorists smokes and sticks the bomb defusal. The benefit of letting the Counter-Terrorists come to you is it helps run the clock down. With the increase to the bomb timer, Counter-Terrorists have been given a free kit, so running down the bomb timer has become even more important. If you all have Molotovs, you are each able to bounce a Molotov onto where the bomb is planted. Below, I have an image showing good positions to hold.
- The Solo Player: As a five man team this will be easy, but solo or duo it will be more difficult. Not all of you will know the smokes and it will be harder to watch all the angles. The advice I can give to the solo player in this situation is to be aware of your teammates and make sure people know their smokes. Either the left Bombtrain smoke or the right Bombtrain smoke can help you limit the amount of angles you need to check. The hardest part about being a Terrorist is there are so many places for the Counter-Terrorists to hide.
B Bombsite
- Lower Smoke: The first smoke is very simple but it does a lot for getting control of the B Bombsite. This smoke does not have to be lined up and can be thrown while running in case you are doing a rush strategy on B. I have a picture below showing where to throw the smoke if you are standing still. If you are running while throwing this smoke, just make sure to have your crosshair aimed before the shadow ends. What this smoke does is cut off the Counter-Terrorist that is holding Z or Back of Site. There are still Counter-Terrorists to look out for on top of Pop Dog, on the first Train, and to the right directly when entering site. With this smoke, you can now safely hold the right side of the site after coming down ramp without being worried about a Counter-Terrorist coming from Z and shooting you.
- Upper Smoke: This is another easy smoke to throw, but can have a huge impact on your team getting on to the Bombsite. I have a picture below showing my crosshair placement. As long as you throw this smoke close to the door but still on the brick part of the wall it will land. This smoke not only blocks off a Counter-Terrorist with an AWP at the back of Upper, but will also stop Z Connector from seeing you go down ladder. With this smoke out, another player can throw a smoke in between the Trains blocking off even more. This smoke is also very good if you are lurking at B and your team is doing something on the other side of the map. It can show you if anyone is on that bombsite, without the enemy knowing how many people are there which could cause early rotations from the enemy.
- Plant and After Plant: After the smokes bloom you want to throw several flashes while heading down ramp on to the Bombsite. Throw them out the same way you threw the smokes and they should work. Most teams will play only one Counter-Terrorist close to the Bombsite and one back of Lower, so use this to your advantage. After you have thrown smokes and flashes push on to the Bombsite without stopping. You want to overwhelm the Counter-Terrorist that plays close and get the bomb down as quickly as possible. One person should push up to the right of Gray Train, since Counter-Terrorists will either push through Z Connector or CT Spawn. It is good to have the positional advantage, since they will push the Bombsite and then you will be able to close in on them from multiple angles. One player can play Bomb Train and hold an angle to stop any Counter-Terrorists from getting to the bomb. You need to play bomb timer and not take any risky peeks. One player can play Pop Dog and watch Lower. If you have an AWP, they should stay Upper, since having an AWP on the high ground is a strong positional advantage. One person should be watching a flank from Ladder. Make sure your team is covering angles, so that no one gets caught off guard. I have a image below showing places to hold to keep the Bombsite.
- The Solo Player: As a solo player this Site is easier to play then the A Bombsite. These two smokes are a lot easier and do not require as much coordination. Just make sure to communicate to your team where players are coming from, make sure all angles are covered and you will be able to succeed. These smokes are the most useful for a solo player. They allow you to do things on your own without your team. You can smoke off Lower and enter the Bombsite and either look for a kill or information to give to your team.
Conclusion
This has been a look into ways to take and hold Bombsite A and B on the map Train. I hope this guide has been a help to both old and new players. Not many people play Train, since it is a relatively new map. I hope you enjoy your Terrorist side time on Train.
