What Is The Best Smoke For Xbox On Dust 2? Let's Find Out!

The age old debate: what is the best smoke for xbox on dust2? In this guide you'll find out.

Ever since the dawn of CS:GO there has been a debate about what is the best smoke for xbox on dust2. The xbox smoke is essential for taking short control and blocking of vision from any CT’s mid, so knowing how to smoke xbox is very important. Everyone in CS:GO has a different opinion on what is the best way to smoke of xbox. But what is exactly the best way and what smoke is the best? In this guide we’re going to look at the 7 most commonly used smokes for xbox and decide which is the best one using a couple of tests.

Some of the smokes used in this guide are thrown using a jumpthrow bind. To get a jumpthrow bind paste, this command into your autoexec file and change [key] to a key you want to use to jumpthrow.

To test which smoke is the best I've measured how much time there was in between throwing the smoke, starting from the same location in T spawn, till the smoke blooming. To measure consistency, I tried each smoke 10 times, resetting my aim and position each try. Combining this data should give a clear indication on what smoke is the best. The results of some of these smokes may be influenced by me already knowing the smoke.

Smoke 1

The first smoke we're going to cover can be thrown directly from T spawn, but is very hard to get right. It has been used by teams like Ninjas in Pyjamas in the past, but isn't as popular or well known in matchmaking. To throw the smoke stand in this corner of the T spawn area, as shown in the pictures below. Look up and locate the three powerlines. Now aim at the middle one and go a little bit to the right with your crosshair.

Run forward until you hit the bottom part of the balcony on the building to the right of you crosshair. When your hit that bottom part of the balcony let go of the smoke.

The average time it takes for this smoke to bloom is 10.21 seconds. From the 10 tries only 6 smokes landed on the xbox. This smoke is very hard to get right every time. This is because the smoke has to be thrown while running, which makes it very inconsistent.

Smoke 2

The second smoke is used a lot by Mousesports. You'll usually see chrisJ throw this smoke at the beginning of the round. To throw the smoke stand on the ledge near suicide at the T spawn. Get near the scaffolding and crouch forward. You'll notice you get stuck against the scaffolding at one point. Now aim at the wall in front of you an locate a red spot and a black spot on the wall. Line these two up and draw an imaginary line. Aim where this line crosses and do a jumpthrow. If you don't get it on the first try, look at where the smoke lands and try to adjust it so that it will land on the xbox.

Is it a good smoke?

The average time it took to bloom was 10.5 seconds. The smoke landed of the 10 times. With a little bit of practice, you can get this smoke consistent since it is thrown standing still. The only problem is having to precisely aim at the wall, which is the only downfall of this smoke.

Smoke 3

For the next smoke you'll need to get outside of the T spawn area towards long. Stand on top of the boxes in front of the blue car. Place yourself against the wall of the building next to you. Look up and locate the three powerlines. Now move forwards or backwards until the two powerlines on the bottom overlap each other. Aim at where the two overlapped powerlines disappear behind the building. Do a normal throw.

Is it a good smoke?

It took 14.10 seconds for this smoke to bloom. Part of this is because lining up the smoke can be quite a hassle. This makes the smoke a little bit inconsistent. of the 10 times the smoke landed correctly. If you want to use this smoke in matchmaking, you'll have to practice it a little bit in a private server to get a feel on how to throw the smoke correctly.

Smoke 4

This smoke is easy to do when you know the exact positioning since it doesn't require a running or jumpthrow. Go to the outside long area and look for the shadow of the lightpost on the ground. You'll notice that crossing the shadow is a shadow of a powerline. Line these up and look up at the building in front of you with the steel bars sticking out.

Aim at the top of the longest bar and do a normal throw. If you lined yourself up the smoke should land on the xbox. If not, try and position yourself differently. This smoke is all about the positioning, so try and find a spot where you can throw it consistently.

Is it a good smoke?

This smoke takes 16.77 seconds to bloom when running from T spawn. Only of the 10 smokes landed on the xbox. So this smoke is pretty inconsistent and it takes a long time to bloom, which makes the smoke only good if you know exactly how to throw it.

Smoke 5

This smoke requires you to be inside the double doors at long, a very dangerous spot at the beginning of a round. Go into the corner of the boxes inside the long doors. Look up at the box in front of you and aim at the middle (a little bit to the left) of the right corner of the box. Do a normal throw. This smoke is very easy to line up and you can do it pretty fast too.

Is it a good smoke?

Since you need to run to the long doors, the smoke does require a little bit more time than usual. It takes 17 seconds to bloom. But the smoke is very consistent. I was able to throw the smoke 10 out of the 10 times correctly. Does this it's a good smoke? Not necessarily. Being in the in the long doors at the beginning of the round is very dangerous, because CT's will usually prenade that position. So the chance of you dying or losing a considerable amount of health in the beginning of the round is very high.

Smoke 6

This one is the most commonly known and used. Go to top mid, in front of palm tree, and line yourself up at the dot on the corner of the building on top mid. Look at the light post (or palm tree as it's also know) and aim at the top middle of the beam and the powerlines. Take three steps and throw your smoke.

Is it a good smoke?

This smoke clocks in at 12.77 seconds. It is also really consistent. I was able to land the smoke 10 out of 10 times. These results may be a bit skewed since I use this smoke myself in matchmaking, but it's still a good smoke nonetheless.

Smoke 7

To throw this smoke, immediately drop down to suicide from T spawn. Get into the corner where you are hidden from a CT sniper from mid doors, and look up at the arches. Aim at the top of the third arch (a little bit to the left) and run forward. When your crosshair reaches the last arch, start shift walking. Then let go of your smoke when your crosshair reaches the end of the last arch.

Is it a good smoke?

This smoke is the fastest of them all clocking in at 10.15 seconds. You can get to suicide very fast from T spawn. The smoke has a pretty average consistency. of the 10 times the smoke landed perfectly on the xbox.

Conclusion

It's really up to yourself which smoke is the best. When you start learning how to throw a smoke and do it more and more often in matchmaking, you'll get consistent in it eventually. The position from where a smoke is thrown does matter though. The fastest smoke is the one thrown from suicide, since it's so close to where you spawn. The most consistent ones in this test were the one thrown from top mid and the one in long doors. But the smoke in long doors has its downside of being very dangerous. If you already know how to consistently throw a smoke onto the xbox, keep using that one. It is better to spend a couple of seconds more in the round to get a smoke correctly, than to use a smoke that's really fast to bloom but has a chance of messing up.
