Who Are Clutch Gaming?

Meet and learn about the Clutch Gaming players that just merged with Dignitas.

Clutch Gaming was introduced to the LCS in 2018 as one of the teams selected to join the newly franchised LCS based in North America. A year later, it was announced on June 6th, 2019 that Clutch had merged with Dignitas and that Dignitas will be taking over the branding rights as of 2020. This means that after the 2019 Summer Split of LCS, the Dignitas name will be returning to teh LCS. The information on how that will work for both companies can be found here. With Dignitas getting back into the LCS as they have merged with Clutch, I think its time we meet the players that are currently under Clutch Gaming.

Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon is the starting top laner for Clutch Gaming. Huni is one of the only few players that has played in three different leagues with success. He has played in the EU LCS (now LEC), LCK, and now currently in the LCS. The teams he has played for are Samsung Galaxy (as a practice partner), Fnatic, Immortals, Echo Fox, and SK Telecom T1. Huni is most known for his time on Fnatic, Immortals, and SK Telecom T1. During the Spring Split of 2015, Huni showed why he was one of the best in the west. Fnatic went on to place second in the Spring Split, going 13-5 during the regular season. Fnatic went on to win the Spring Split beating Unicorns of Love. In the Summer Split of 2015, they went an astounding 18-0. They also won the Summer Split by beating Origen 3-2 in the finals. Fnatic went on to place 3rd/4th at the 2015 World Championship. After Huni left Europe, he joined Immortals in North America for the 2016 season.

His success didn't stop there, as he went on to terrorize North America. Immortals went on to have a 17-1 record, and winning the Spring Split, and 16-2 placing second during the Summer Split of 2016. Huni's most known accomplishment was joining SK Telecom T1 in 2017. During the 2017 LCK Spring Split, Huni showed why he deserved to play for such a prestigious team. They went 16-2 during the regular season, and won the split. SKT in the summer placed 4th, but placed into Worlds by gaining enough 2017 Championship Points. At 2017 Worlds, SKT made it to the finals as this would make Huni a League of Legends Worlds Finalist. Even though SKT placed second that event, this is a huge milestone for Huni. After the 2017 World Championship, Huni moved back to North America and joined Echo Fox. Echo Fox placed 3rd in the 2018 Spring Split, and 5th/6th during the Summer Split. Huni joined Clutch Gaming for the 2019 Spring Split. Huni is looking to bring Clutch Gaming to the 2019 World Championship during the Summer Split.

Nam "Lira" Tae-yoo is the starting jungler for Clutch Gaming. Lira's career started in Korea as a jungler on KT Rolster Arrows. He moved from team to team which included CJ Entus Frost, Rebels Anarchy, and Oh My God 2. In 2016, Lira joined Afreeca Freecs for the LCK Spring Split. The 2016 LCK Spring Split is where things turned around for Lira. On Afreeca Freecs, Lira made the playoffs during the Spring Split with a 10-8 record. Things didn't stop there, as he made it to the Summer Split playoffs with a 8-10 regular season.

Even though they lost in the first round each split, Lira showed that he could hang with the best. After failing to qualify for the 2016 World Championship, Lira left Afreeca Freecs to join Team EnVyUs in 2017. In 2017, Envy made the playoffs showing that he belongs in the LCS. Lira joined Clutch Gaming for the 2018 season. Lira made the playoffs in the Spring Split with a 11-7 record, but missed playoffs for the Summer Split. The 2019 Spring Split wasn't kind to Clutch as they missed the playoffs. Lira is looking to have a bounce back performance for Clutch Gaming in the 2019 Summer Split.

Tanner "Damonte" Damonte is the starting mid laner for Clutch Gaming. Early in Damonte's career, he tried qualifying for the North America Challenger Series. Even though this is right below the LCS, he wanted to get some professional experience. Damonte got his chance in 2017 as he was a substitute for Echo Fox. In Week 6 of the 2017 Summer Split, he started for Echo Fox going up against Immortals and Team Envy. The start of the 2018 season, Damonte was placed on the Echo Fox Academy team. He didn't see any playing time on the main team for most of the season except the last week. Clutch Gaming acquired Damonte in a trade before the 2019 Spring Split and named him their starter. As the 2019 Summer Split starts, he is known to be one of the best talents North America has.

Cody "Cody Sun" Sun is the starting bottom laner for Clutch Gaming. Cody became an LCS starter in 2017 with Immortals. Missing the playoffs in the Spring Split, Immortals flourished in the Summer Split. They had a 14-4 record and went to the Summer Split Finals, but lost to Team SoloMid. Cody went on to display his skills at the 2017 World Championship. After the 2017 season, Immortals left the scene as they weren't accepted to the newly franchised LCS. Cody went on to join 100 Thieves, one of the new organizations accepted into the LCS.

The 2018 Spring Split was Cody's best season yet. The team went on to have a 12-6 regular season record, and get second in the Spring Split Playoffs. Cody went on to be selected for the All Pro Team as the ADC for the 2018 Spring Split of LCS. 100 Thieves boasted a 10-8 record during the regular season in summer. For the 2019 Spring Split, Cody played on Clutch's academy team. Clutch Gaming announced that Cody Sun would be their starting ADC for the 2019 Summer Split. Even though he played in the academy series in Spring, he looks to show why he's still one of the best in North America.
