A new Season means new Medallions! Read to find out what these Medallions do and how to get one in the game.
Medallions were first introduced in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 and, ever since, they have become a staple for this Chapter. Each Season, we are given a handful of Medallions, each granting its own buff, and Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 5 is no exception.
These Medallions are quite hard to get, as many players want these Medallions and there is only one of each in every match. Simply put, you will have to fight many players to get your hands on one. This is why it’s important to understand what these Medallions are, the buffs they provide, and how to even get them in the first place.
The Medallions and their perks differ from Season to Season, so here are all the Medallions introduced in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, and how to get your hands on one.
Simply put, Medallions are tokens of power dropped by Boss NPCs. Each Medallion grants a unique buff to the player holding, such as regeneration, speed, etc. They were first introduced in Season 1 of Chapter 5 and are now part of every new season.
There is only one of each Medallion in every game, which is dropped by defeating a Boss NPC at their POI. These POIs are heavily contested as the Boss NPCs not only drop Medallions but also Mythic Weapons. From a competitive standpoint, these Medallions are worth the challenge as the buffs they provide can be really advantageous in the later game. So, if you can, try fighting for these Medallions.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 has introduced three new Medallions. Compared to the previous Seasons, the number of Medallions is quite low, which means the fight to get them is going to be even tougher. For instance, Chapter 5 Season 2 had four Medallions. With that covered, here are all the Medallions available in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4.
If you prefer a sneaky and tactical approach to Fortnite, then fighting for the Stealth Medallion should be in your interest. The Stealth Medallion is dropped by Mysterio, the Master of Illusions at Doomstadt, the hometown of Doctor Doom. All you need to do is land in Doomstadt, survive the onslaught of other players, and then fight Mysterio. Remember to loot up and be fully prepared as the boss fight is quite difficult. During the battle, Mysterio will spawn clones of himself to distract you. After you have managed to defeat him, Mysterio will drop the Stealth Medallion along with the Mythic Sovereign Shotgun.
The Stealth Medallion makes you invisible while crouching. It’s a nifty Medallion that can get you a lot of kills if used right. You can sneak up to enemies or snipe them from long range and they will never notice where you are. There is a con however, you are not totally invisible. If players are paying attention, they can spot the silhouette of your character model. This means just sitting in front of an enemy won’t work, so you will have to be a bit creative.
If the sneaky and tactical approach is not up to your taste, try out the Siphon Medallion, which is suited to players who prefer an aggressive playstyle. The Siphon Medallion is dropped by Doombot at Doom Castle along with Doctor Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets and Monarch Pistol. Now, that’s a sweet deal. Not to mention, Doom Castle is filled with Avengers and Doom crates, meaning you will be stacked in terms of gear.
Moving on to the buff, the Siphon Medallion has a really neat buff where you get 50 hp after every kill. A lot of the time after a challenging fight, your health and shield can get quite low, making you an easy pick for the enemy waiting to third-party. This extra 50 hp can really help to get you back at fighting health.
The third Medallion introduced this season is the Reveal Medallion. As the name suggests, the Reveal Medallion reveals the locations of nearby enemies. Essentially, it gives you wall hacks. The Reveal Medallion is dropped by Emma Frost at the Raft along with the Mythic Burst Rifle which on its own is one of the strongest weapons this season.
Not only are these Medallions powerful on their own, but if you manage to get your hands on all of them, you can truly be a dominating force on the Island. It’s no surprise that these Medallions are overpowered, and any player who has a medallion has an unfair advantage. However, not all is lost as these Medallions come with a caveat of their own.
Any player owning a Medallion will have their location revealed to every player through a circle. The circle indicates that the player is somewhere within this region. For one medallion, the circle is quite large. However, the more Medallions the player gets the smaller the circle becomes, making the location of the player more accurate.
While getting all the Medallions sounds like a sweet deal, it comes with a huge disadvantage. All the players in the lobby will know where you are and will be gunning for those Medallions.
In summary, Medallions are high-risk reward items that can help you win the game or at least get a lot of frags. Each Medallion has its buffs which cater to different playstyles. For sneaky players, Stealth Medallion might be the best. On the other hand, aggressive players might prefer the Siphon or Reveal Medallion. Or, if you truly want a challenge, try collecting all the Medallions.
