Reasons Why You Should Root For Dignitas in Rocket League

The RLCS is by far one of, if not the most, exciting esports titles. There is never a bad time to get into the RLCS, as gameplay is easy to follow, formats are simple, and crowds at major tournaments are captivating with their electric roars of cheers. Whether you are a new fan or an experienced viewer, this article will plead Dignitas’ case for being the best overall team to root for and watch.

At any given time in RLCS, there are quite literally hundreds of teams competing to be crowned World Champions. Some of these teams can last as short as one qualifier, or if you are like Dignitas, can last for 8+ years. Picking a favorite team can be daunting for this very reason. It is not uncommon for fans to switch allegiances often in RLCS as opposed to traditional sports fans, who swear to their fandoms their entire lives. This is due to the turnover rate the RLCS has, as well as the frequent changes that esports titles generally come with.

Although this may seem obvious, deciding which team to root for is a very personal choice. The reason this is more so than other titles and traditional sports is that Rocket League has the somewhat unique attribute of not having location-based teams (for the most part). Although teams are region-based in the RLCS, this is not always the end-all be-all for RLCS fans when it comes to allegiance. This can be a good place to start, but new fans will be surprised to learn that inter-region loyalty is extremely common.

Most RLCS fans will decide on their favorite team starting with the region they are in, and others cheer for organizations their favorite content creators are associated with. There are numerous different ways to pick a favorite team, but one obvious team sticks out in particular.

Rooting for Dignitas Comes with a History of Success

That obvious team, with a rich history of winning and thrilling gameplay, is none other than YOUR Dignitas. Although based in Newark, New Jersey, most of Dignitas’s Rocket League history takes place in the European region of the RLCS, where Rocket League legends like ViolentPanda, Kaydop, Turbopolsa, Chicago, Scrubkilla, and many others have called Dignitas home. Aside from Europe, the only other region to host a Dignitas Rocket League team is North America, the region Dignitas currently plays in.

It is impossible to talk about Dignitas Rocket League without discussing their extensive history. To get the complete rundown, I recommend one of my other articles titled Evolution of Rocket League’s Most Historic Dynasty. To make a long story short, Dignitas is Rocket League’s second-longest-standing org in the RLCS, behind NRG, who has been around since Season 2 in 2016. Being in the RLCS since 2018, for a total of 11 seasons, comes with its fair share of World Championship appearances, insane come-from-behind comebacks, regional championships, and, of course, the historic Season 5 Game 7 overtime win for the World Championship title. Dignitas has undoubtedly been involved in the most electric and historic matches in RLCS history. Some of those games can also be found here.

Currently, Dignitas Rocket League is home to players Evoh, bora, and Fiv3Up, with coaches Eclipse and fishhr at the helm. After an okay showing in the first split of the season, the new and upcoming roster is already making waves this Paris Major Split and is off to a strong 3-0 start this Open #5. This Dignitas roster has garnered a lot of attention this season because of the large expectations set for them. Although young, this Dignitas roster is set to be a staple in North American Rocket League for many seasons to come. This gives them the unique attribute of seeming like an underdog while also being a tournament favorite in every event. This makes them very easy to root for and exciting to watch as the action unfolds.

Why Dignitas is Perfect For New Fans

The first and most important reason is that Dignitas is widely regarded as the RLCS’s next up-and-comers. This combination of a new roster under a new org makes Dignitas perfect for fans to get behind. Evoh, bora, and Fiv3Up are just beginning the early stages of what appears to be historic careers in the making, meaning lots of years of success are ahead.

Secondly, if you have gotten to watch any live footage of the team during RLCS this season, there is no shortage of charm, especially from Evoh and his infectious personality. Even without the sound, you are still drawn to the personality and vibes displayed by the team and their synergy. Through just a live camera feed during matches and a few short interviews, it is clear that the team is in sync, and you can’t help but cheer along with them as the team stacks up wins.

Lastly, but certainly not least, is the team's electric playstyle. They are flashy, they are creative, and they are outright GOOD. At every event, there is a highlight reel play. To be able to achieve such dominance at the top level this quickly into their careers is just a small glimpse of the supremacy this team will hold in the near future and for seasons to come. This Dignitas roster has a special way of making sure fans do not get out of their seats because they might miss the highlight of the season if they look away at any second.

Conclusion

Whether you are a new fan to the RLCS or a longtime veteran, Dignitas is certainly a team to pay attention to. With a rich history, exciting future, and electric gameplay, Dignitas is by far the team you want to be behind for years to come. While most orgs come and go in the RLCS, Dignitas has been here since 2018 and is likely not going anywhere anytime soon. Especially when picking a favorite team, it is important that not only does the team have a proven track record but also has a promising future. Dignitas is the full embodiment of those two things. While having the most dominant dynasty in Rocket League history, the current team is one of the most likely rosters to be the next big one.
