Do you want to improve your Rocket League skills? Whether you're a Bronze player or a Grand Champion, this article has the best training packs for you to rank up in Rocket League!
Rocket League is one of the hardest games to get good at. It has one of the steepest learning curves among other games. To rank up, you must master numerous mechanics and skills. While you could simply play free play and call it a day, there are other ways to improve.
Fortunately, Rocket League has a large library of community-created training packs to help you improve your mechanics. Each training pack is intended to improve various aspects of your gameplay. But, with so many options, which ones do you choose? More importantly, which training pack is appropriate for your rank?
For example, as a Gold, your focus isn’t on learning air dribbles. A pack for air dribbles is useless to you. That is why you must choose a pack appropriate for your skill level, and that is what this article is about.
At this stage, you are probably new to the game with only a few hours. Your main goal should be to familiarize yourself with the game. Understand the fundamentals, how the car moves, getting familiar with the controls, etc.
At the Bronze level, your best pal is Psyonnix starter training packs. They are a great starting point for beginners to get familiar with the game.
For silvers, the goal is to start strengthening the fundamentals. You should now be familiar with how the game works, the car movement, and how to hit the ball.
At this stage, you should start learning how to hit the ball with power on the ground. Most Silvers can’t defend that well, so a good shot will easily end up in the net. You should keep practicing on the Psyonix Rookie Training packs, as they are great for building your fundamentals.
However, in order to climb out to Silver, you need a better option. One that focuses on improving your basics while also incorporating more mechanics. Following are some maps that are great for training said mechanics.
Bronze/Silver Training - 2D89-9321-42D2-48BA
Powershots - 7028-5E10-88EF-E83E
Ground Shots - 6EB1-79B2-33B8-681C
If you consistently practice these training packs, you will see yourself missing less and playing better. It should improve your car control and shooting.
The most apparent problem when it comes to Gold players is the lack of consistency. At this stage, most players can hit the ball with decent power, and perform basic aerials, but they can’t do it consistently. This is the point where you should start focusing heavily on your shooting ability. Not only, is it going to make you score more but will make you consistent at hitting the ball too.
It is also a good time to start some basic aerial training and understand how to hit the ball in the air. When you reach Platinum, most players will be able to perform basic aerials consistently.
Because Gold players are inconsistent when it comes to shooting, it’s also a great time to practice rebounds. You will often find yourself in a situation where the ball barely misses the goal and is bouncing back. If you practice rebounds you will be able to capitalize on this opportunity.
The following training packs are the best for Golds to build consistency and start getting a bit better at mechanics. You should also keep practicing the packs mentioned at the Silver.
Gold Pack 2024 - CBC9-90CA-6434-2BD5
Shots You Should’nt Miss - 42BF-686D-E047-574B
Basic Rebound Practice - 3DBA-229E-745C-429C
Platinum is the hardest rank to get out of and is considered by many to be ELO hell. The skill gap between diamond and platinum players is quite large, which is why many players struggle to get out of the rank.
At the platinum level, the best mechanic to improve on is defense. Players at this level will be better at shooting, so you have to be prepared to deal with it. It’s also the time when you should properly learn how to do aerials consistently.
But, most importantly, it’s time to start practicing how to play off the wall. Dribbling is also something you should start working on, it will take time to master, but it’s better to start now than later. In summary, you should start working to improve your ground game in general.
This is why we recommend the following training packs for Plat players, it will help you bridge the mechanical gap between you and Diamond and hopefully help you escape this ELO hell.
Dribble Training - 04C1-42C8-6E5D-6F75
Wall Shots - 9F6D-4387-4C57-2E4B
Platinum/Diamond Mechanics - 3B40-CE8C-58EB-32B3
Basic Aerials - F0BD-E416-D47D-AF28
After a rigorous grind, you’re finally out of Platinum and have earned yourself the Diamond rank. However, you’ll quickly find that Diamond lobbies can be significantly harder. Opponents are faster, more accurate, and are performing better kickoffs.
In Diamond I or Diamond II, the first thing you want to improve upon is defense. You want to be relatively close to the attacking player while also avoiding overcommitting. Most of it is about timing, reaction time, and decision-making. Backboard defense and backward saves are also important.
You’ll also notice that Diamonds tend to hit higher fast aerials. If you’re someone who shied away from aerials in Platinum, this is something you’ll want to work on.
Finally, you’ll want to focus on some of the “fancier” mechanics. Try getting the hang of stuff like half-flips, speed flips, ground-to-air dribbles, and flicks.
Thanovic’s Diamond Pack - 504C-DCCB-6FAB-666C
Shadow Defense - 5CCE-FB29-7B05-A0B1

Champion is where Rocket League starts getting fancy. You’ll frequently see flip resets, off-the-wall air dribbles, and a ton of flicks. To survive in this rank, you’ll have to play fast while also learning how to defend on low boost. In Champ, you can’t survive without good team play, so passing plays are highly important.
In general, you need to focus on being faster while hitting more powerful shots. You’ll also want to know how to intercept the ball in the air, so you can protect yourself from getting clipped on. Speaking of defending, backboard defense is vital here. Quickly getting a save from the backboard and using that to counter is a tried and true way of scoring in this rank.
Keep in mind that the ball is going to be in the air a lot when it comes to Champ lobbies. As such, you’ll want to perfect your fast aerials and learn how to air dribble or aerial off the wall. Other mechanics such as wall pinching, redirects, dribble control, and double taps are just as important.

This is it, the top 0.1% of Rocket League players. Some of your favorite Rocket League YouTubers are most likely Grand Champs. In this rank, consistency is key. You’ll want to spend a lot of time in free play perfecting what you’ve learned so far. Your speed flips, air dribbles, and shadow defense tactics should all be top-notch to survive.
When it comes to mechanics, you’ll want to focus on double taps, advanced air dribbling, Backboard aerials, and flips resets. The important part is that you need to get consistent with all of these mechanics. Getting to Grand Champ is not easy, but surviving in it is even harder.
Finally, by now you should be able to read and predict plays very well. Use that intuition to your advantage to intercept plays, reserve boost, and pass to your teammate.

Rocket League has tens of millions of players, but only three thousand of those players have reached Supersonic Legend. Less than 0.06% of active players have achieved this rank, and it’s easy to see why. This is Rocket League at its sweatiest, most competitive nature. If you somehow manage to reach this rank, you already have a grasp of all of the mechanics.
Assuming that’s the case, then you’ll want to spend most of your time perfecting what you already know. Be prepared to spend a good bit of time in free play to practice all those mechanics. There isn’t any specific mechanic that you need to learn at this point, but new mechanics are popping up all the time. Pay attention online and seek them out.
